Filming for the series took place at Ealing Films Studios, in three blocks of two weeks each.

Wherever possible, shows with similar requirements were grouped together. Knowing that we needed a sky background for both the balloon flight and dream sequences, a 30 by 60 feet backing was painted by scenic artist Jim McCarthy that could be used for both shows.

The balloon was achieved as a 1/12th scale miniature, whilst close-up shots of the pilot utilised a full-size basket against the same sky backing.
