MISSING IN ACTION, BBC1

This special edition of 999 covered the story of an American F-16 pilot shot down by ground to air missiles over Bosnia.

1/6 and 1/8 scale fighters were shot against a painted sky packing to achieve the shots of the two aircraft in flight. Live rocketry effects were used to represent the ground-to-air missiles, fired down guide wires in order to choreograph the sequence.

The show was nominated for an RTS award for Best Visual Effects 1999.
