Christmas 2011

The Model Unit has recently completed a new project for exhibition design company Sarner, with whom we worked on the Doctor Who Experience at Olympia. Impressed with the exhibits that we provided, creative director Michael Bennet asked us to collaborate with him again on a model diorama for the Fram Museum in Oslo. Working with miniature shipwright Tony Fancy, the Model Unit constructed a 1/25 scale landscape showing the icebound Fram and the various scientific experiments conducted by the crew. Built in sections, and featuring miniature sleds, crew members and huskies, the model was transported to Olso and reassembled by Model Unit Supervisor Mike Tucker and Senior Technician Nick Kool in time for the grand opening by King Harald on 10th October. A second diorama is due to be installed in time for Christmas.

Work continues on the Doctor Who Experience, with the Model Unit providing settings for the Junkyard TARDIS and Peg Dolls featured in Series 6 that have recently been added to the exhibition space.

We have also just completed major new project for Discovery Channel and World Media Rights, details of which are currently under wraps until a transmission date has been set. More news on this project will follow in the new year.
