Last Days of the Dinosaurs aired on Saturday 28th August on the Discovery Channel.
Working with Visual Effects Supervisor Tim Goodchild of Dangerous Films and Canadian digital effects studio Mokko,
the Model Unit crew fulfilled several childhood ambitions by
providing miniature dinosaurs, asteroids, fireballs and tidal waves
for this one hour television spectacular. Several videos are
currently available to view on the
Discovery Channel website, and the DVD is available for preorder from
Amazon.
Last Days of the Dinosaurs is a Dangerous Films/Handel Productions show for the Discovery Channel. It was directed by Mark Hedgecoe, produced by Tim Goodchild.
The Executive Producers were Alan Handel and Richard Dale.
The History of the BBC Visual Effects Department,
written by Mike Tucker and Mat Irvine, recounts the creation of this famous BBC Department and takes a close look at some of the output from its 50 year history.
Featuring a wealth of photographic and design material, the book
will cover model work and effects from a variety of famous BBC
programmes. The book is published in November, and available to pre-order from
